Giants Online CFM - Season 2 (games, highlights, recaps, resignings, draft board prospects)

For the sake of realism, I let Hakeem Nicks, Justin Tuck, David Diehl and Andre Brown all walk in Free Agency. Signed Sean Lee and Daryl Smith in FA though to shore up my LB corps, and got Herman Lovett (FS, 81 OVR) with my first choice in the draft (only used scout points, no draft-guide cheating), and accidentally missed my 2nd round pick and the CPU auto-picked HB LeTevin Stead, who has done a decent job so far in spelling Wilson.
I'm 2-0 so far this season after wins over Seattle and Dallas. Coughlin retired after our NFC Conf. Championship loss last year, and was replaced by the CPU auto-pick Demetrius Thomas, aka "Coach Jabba." Interestingly, Hakeem ended up with the 'Skins, who are also 2-0 on the season so far.

Just had the best game of my life. Season 2, Week 3 - against the E-gals at Lincoln Financial. Still need to type up the box score because this game had so many big lead changes, I went from thinking I'd win, to lose, to win, to lose, and then thanks to a last second FG, to win.

Week 4
FedEx Field, Landover, Maryland

New York
Giants (80 ovr)

Washington
Redskins(84 ovr)
31-37
Former Giants WR Hakeem Nicks looked great in his first match-up against his old team, and no matter what they did, this was a game where RGIII & Co. held the lead throughout despite how narrow it got at times, and the 'Skins continue to roll and go undefeated, move to 4-0 on the season.

Week 5 - The Battle for MetLife (a/k/a NY Bowl) - 3-1 NYG (80 OVR) vs. 2-2 NYJ (78 OVR)
This game was never close, as NYG rolls 27-3 - the otherwise-underperforming MLB Sean Lee had a big day with 2 INTs against Geno.

Week 6 Preview & At-a-Glance Review
Redskins lead NFC East at 5-0, with NYG and Dallas right behind at 4-1. After a great season last year, the Eagles are 0-5 due to injuries.

Weeks 6 & 7 - After a blowout win against Miami in which we saw Giants DB Prince Amukamara nab 3 INTs, and the 'Fins blow up Ryan Nassib's victory kneeldown...
... then the R-Skins complete the season sweep against the Giants, and the Patriots destroyed NYG to the tune of 41-21.
Patriots QB Tom Brady had a banner day against NY's lackluster pass defense (unlike against Tannehill, 4 INTs) Brady had 4 TDs and only 1 INT, and nearly 400 yards passing.

Things won't get easier in Week 8, versus the on-fire 7&1 Saints. To make things worse for NY, the NFC East race has heated even more, with the Redskins an amazing 7&1, Dallas at 6-2, and NYG in third place at 5-3.

my NYGiants are 2-0. We just beat Denver - after being down 17-14 at the half, Justin Tuck sacks/concusses Peyton in the third quarter. Brock actually does OK with 1 TD and 1 INT, but couldn't keep up with the pace of our scoring and we win 41-27.

we unexpectedly bounced back vs Green Bay, winning in a tight close one with several lead changes, 25-17. We're 7-3 on the season so far. We have Cruz, Tuck, and Beason all out with injuries, which has made a clear impact and games feel more difficult.

Rookies to be targeted by the Giants in the 2014 NFL draft:

The reasoning behind this draft board is because we expect to lose WR Hakeem Nicks and DE Justin Tuck to
free agency, and also are currently weak at safety, and aged/weak at linebacker. Based on the best talent
available per projected draft round/pick estimates, this is how the Giants board tentatively flows from the 1st to
the 7th round.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oof. After losing a 33-30 heartbreaker to the Detroit Lions in the penultimate game of the regular season due to my extremely poor clock management late in the game, and then getting lucky with a wildcard BYE because I owned the tiebreaker with also 11-5 Philadelphia, guess who I face in the divisional round? Yep, Detroit. Guess it's time to avenge the loss. At least this time it will be at MetLife, hopefully with snow?

VICTORY!
Sweet victory. Hosting the Lions at MetLife in the NFC Divisional Round (the other NFC Divisional match-up being SF vs. Philly), the Giants hoped to avoid an outcome similar to their Week 16 match-up against Detroit (albeit an away game at Ford Field). No snow at MetLife as I had hoped, but temps were still cold at 29 degrees Fahrenheit. We win with another close score, 34-27, thanks to an amazingly mistake-free game from Eli (he had 25 touchdowns and 25 INTs during the regular season, but in this game 236 yds, 1 TD & zero INTs) and great running from RB David Wilson (142 yards on 32 carries), we defeat Stafford (345 yds, 3 TDs & 3 INTs) & Co. and move on to the NFC Divisional Round to face Kaep and the Niners.

The final team stats were extremely similar, other than rushing yards, which Detroit made up for through the air:

Now, the G-Men move on to face the red hot 13-3 San Francisco 49ers (led by 2013 NFL MVP Colin Kaepernick), who absolutely crushed the E-gals in their NFC Divisional Round, 55-13.

On the other side of the NFL, here's what the AFC playoff picture looks like so far:
